How to Write a High-Scoring Essay in CAPF Paper 2

Essay writing carries the highest weight in CAPF Paper 2, and it is also where evaluation is the most subjective. A clear structure removes that risk.

The 5-Part Structure

• Hook introduction — open with a fact, quote or short anecdote that frames the topic.
• Context paragraph — define the theme and state its relevance today.
• Body (3-4 dimensions) — analyse the topic from social, economic, political, security and ethical angles. One dimension per paragraph.
• Counter-view — acknowledge the other side briefly; it shows maturity.
• Forward-looking conclusion — end with a constructive way ahead, never with pessimism.

Practical Rules

• Spend 8-10 minutes planning before writing a single sentence.
• Use simple, correct English. Examiners reward clarity, not vocabulary.
• Underline key phrases sparingly.
• Practice with a timer — 45 minutes per essay, no more.
