Syllabus & Modules

1. 1The General Science syllabus for NDA, CDS, and UPSC CAPF (Assistant Commandant) examinations is comprehensive and covers the fundamental principles of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and the applications of science in everyday life. The syllabus is primarily based on NCERT Classes 6–10, with selective concepts from Classes 11–12, particularly in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. While NDA focuses more on conceptual understanding and basic applications, CDS emphasizes conceptual clarity with analytical questions, and CAPF includes additional questions on biotechnology, environmental science, information technology, and recent scientific developments.
2. 2In Physics, candidates should prepare topics such as units and measurements, motion, force and Newton's laws of motion, work, energy and power, gravitation, properties of matter, pressure, heat and thermodynamics, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, modern physics, radioactivity, nuclear energy, semiconductors, satellites, and basic space technology.
3. 3In Chemistry, the syllabus includes the nature of matter, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical reactions, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, carbon and its compounds, fuels, polymers, environmental chemistry, and the chemistry of everyday life, including soaps, detergents, fertilizers, medicines, cement, glass, and plastics.
4. 4The Biology section covers cell structure and function, biomolecules, tissues, human anatomy and physiology, nutrition, digestion, respiration, circulation, excretion, the nervous and endocrine systems, reproduction, plant physiology, photosynthesis, genetics, heredity, evolution, immunity, vaccines, communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutrition, vitamins, minerals, and deficiency diseases.
5. 5Biotechnology, which has gained increasing importance, especially in the CAPF examination, includes DNA and RNA, genetic engineering, recombinant DNA technology, PCR, cloning, stem cells, CRISPR technology, gene therapy, genetically modified crops, biofertilizers, biopesticides, and other modern biological applications.
6. 6Overall, the General Science syllabus for NDA, CDS, and UPSC CAPF emphasizes strong conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, and practical applications.
